(Z)-N-9-octadecenylpropane-1,3-diamine, also known as N-Oleyl-1,3-propanediamine or Oleyl diamine (trade name Duomeen OL), is a fatty diamine cationic surfactant with CAS No.7173-62-8. It appears as pale yellow to amber viscous liquid, slightly soluble in water and soluble in most organic solvents. Featuring two reactive amine groups and a long-chain oleyl hydrophobic segment, it shows excellent adsorption, emulsification, dispersion and corrosion inhibition performance.
It is widely used as asphalt emulsifier for cationic bitumen emulsion, oilfield corrosion inhibitor for pipeline and well tubing, mineral flotation collector for non-ferrous metal ore, textile softener and antistatic agent. Besides, it serves as intermediate for lubricant additives, industrial cleaning formulations, paint and ink additives.
