Product Description
Melamine phosphate (MP) is an efficient halogen-free flame retardant, usually appearing as a white powder. Its molecular formula is C₃H₉N₆O₄P, with a molecular weight of 224.12 g/mol. It has low solubility in water (3.9 g/L at 20°C) and methanol, while maintaining good stability under normal environmental conditions.
Melamine phosphate is widely used in plastics, coatings, and textiles to improve fire resistance. When exposed to high temperatures, it releases non-flammable gases, such as nitrogen, and promotes the formation of a protective carbon layer. These effects help reduce heat transfer, limit oxygen exposure, and slow the spread of flames.

Product Application
Melamine phosphate is widely used as a halogen-free flame retardant in various polymer materials, including polyolefins, epoxy resins, polyurethanes, and rubber products. It is particularly suitable for plastic packaging, electrical components, construction materials, and industrial applications where improved fire safety is required. By releasing non-combustible gases and promoting the formation of a protective char layer during heating, it helps reduce flammability, suppress flame propagation, and improve the thermal stability of materials. Its good chemical stability and compatibility with different polymer systems make it a useful additive in the development of flame-retardant products.
