Product Applications
Dipropylene glycol methyl ether is widely used as a solvent for nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, polyvinyl acetate, paints, dyes, printing inks, and enamels. It is also used as a component in brake fluids and as a cleaning solvent for cutting oils and machining fluids. In water-based coatings, it serves as an active solvent and coupling agent, often in combination with other solvents.
Additionally, dipropylene glycol methyl ether is used as a solvent and coupling agent in household and industrial cleaning products, including degreasers, paint removers, metal cleaners, and hard-surface cleaners. It can also function as a solvent and coupling agent in solvent-based screen-printing inks and in the dyeing of fabrics with vat dyes. In cosmetic formulations, it serves as a coupling agent and skin-conditioning ingredient. Other applications include acting as a stabilizer in agricultural insecticide formulations and as a coalescing agent in floor polish products.
