Calcium ChlorideCAS#10043-52-4 Product Description
Anhydrous calcium chloride is an inorganic compound that typically appears as a white, porous crystalline solid or granular material. It is highly hygroscopic and exhibits strong deliquescent properties, allowing it to absorb more than 300% of its own weight in moisture under suitable conditions.
It has a melting point of approximately 782°C, a density of 2.15 g/cm³, and a boiling point above 1,600°C. It dissolves readily in water, releasing a significant amount of heat during the dissolution process, and is also soluble in ethanol and acetone.
Calcium chloride exists in several hydrated forms, with calcium chloride hexahydrate (CaCl₂·6H₂O) being one of the commonly encountered varieties. The hexahydrate forms colorless trigonal crystals with strong hygroscopic properties and a characteristic bitter-salty taste. It has a density of approximately 1.71 g/cm³ and melts in its own water of crystallization at around 29.92°C.
Upon heating to approximately 30°C, the hexahydrate loses four molecules of water and converts into calcium chloride dihydrate (CaCl₂·2H₂O), which appears as a white, porous, moisture-absorbing solid. Further heating produces the monohydrate, while temperatures above 200°C promote complete dehydration, resulting in highly hygroscopic anhydrous calcium chloride.
In addition to forming hydrated compounds, calcium chloride can react with ammonia to produce calcium chloride octaammine (CaCl₂·8NH₃).
Due to its exceptional moisture absorption capacity, high thermal stability, and versatile physical and chemical properties, anhydrous calcium chloride is widely used in moisture control, drying, refrigeration, deicing, and various industrial processes.

Calcium ChlorideCAS#10043-52-4 Product Application
1.Deicing and Dust Control
Road Deicing: Used as an effective deicing agent to lower the freezing point of water to approximately -51°C when applied as a 30% calcium chloride solution, helping prevent ice formation and maintain road safety in extremely cold conditions.
Unpaved Road Dust Suppression: Applied as a 35% solution to attract and retain moisture while binding fine dust particles, reducing airborne dust and improving road conditions.
2.Industrial Drying and Moisture Control
Gas Processing: Employed in desiccant systems to remove moisture from industrial gases and achieve dew point suppression down to approximately -40°C.
Refrigeration and HVAC Systems: Functions as a moisture scavenger in refrigeration and air-conditioning lines, helping remove residual moisture and maintain system performance.
