Product Description

Carbon black (CAS 1333-86-4) is a form of finely divided elemental carbon produced by incomplete combustion or thermal decomposition of hydrocarbon feedstocks, supplied as a black powder or bead. It is the most widely used reinforcing filler and black colorant in rubber, plastics, inks, coatings and batteries, valued for its unique combination of reinforcement, UV protection, conductivity and deep black color.

Key features:

  • Superior reinforcement in rubber — improves tensile strength, abrasion resistance and tear strength of tires and mechanical goods.

  • Excellent UV stabilizer — absorbs and dissipates UV radiation, protecting plastics and outdoor rubber from aging.

  • Deep black color and high tinting strength — the standard black pigment in inks, coatings and masterbatch.

  • Tunable grades — N220, N330, N550, N660 for rubber; Pigment Black 7 for color; conductive grades for batteries and ESD parts.

  • Good chemical resistance and thermal stability — inert across most processing conditions.

  • Available in powder and bead forms for easy handling and dust control.

Product Application

Carbon black is a multi-functional carbon material whose demand spans rubber products, plastics, inks, coatings, batteries and environmental applications.
In rubber, it is the dominant reinforcing filler — about 30% of a typical tire tread is carbon black, which raises abrasion resistance, tensile strength, heat dissipation and service life. It is also used in belts, hoses, seals, footwear and automotive rubber parts.
In plastics, it is added to polyolefin pipes, geomembranes, cables, household appliances and automotive interior parts as a UV stabilizer, black colorant and processing aid. It is also a key component in conductive and anti-static compounds for ESD packaging and electronic components.
In inks, coatings and toners, pigment-grade carbon black (Pigment Black 7) is the standard black colorant for printing inks, automotive and industrial coatings, and laser-printer toners, thanks to its deep black, blue undertone and weather resistance.
In energy and environmental fields, it is used as an additive in lithium-ion battery anodes and conductive slurries, as a raw material for carbon paper and conductive films, and as a UV blocker in agricultural mulch films.
