Products Description

Trans-1,2-dichloroethylene is a colorless, volatile liquid characterized by a slightly pungent odor. It is highly flammable, and its vapor may form explosive mixtures with air. Exposure to open flames or high temperatures may result in combustion or explosion. When heated in air, it may decompose to produce highly toxic phosgene and hydrogen chloride gases. It also reacts vigorously with oxidizing agents and may react with copper or copper alloys to form explosive chloroacetylene.

Product Applications

Compared with cis-1,2-dichloroethylene, trans-1,2-dichloroethylene exhibits lower toxicity and greater chemical reactivity. It is primarily used in industrial applications as an extractant for heat-sensitive substances, a solvent for certain polymeric materials, and a raw material in organic synthesis. Additionally, it serves as a solvent for various substances, including fats, phenols, and camphor, and is used in the production or processing of dyes, fragrances, paints, thermoplastics, and degreasing agents.
