Products Description of POLYCARBOMETHYLSILANE CAS#62306-27-8
Polycarbomethylsilane, also known as PCS, is a typical preceramic organosilicon polymer. It appears as pale yellow glassy lumps or fine powder at room temperature. It dissolves well in organic solvents such as xylene and hexane, while it is insoluble in water. This product is sensitive to oxygen; long-term exposure to air will cause oxidation and performance degradation, so it requires sealed storage under inert atmosphere.
With excellent thermal stability and adjustable ceramic yield, PCS serves as the core precursor material for manufacturing silicon carbide (SiC) fibers. It can be processed by melt spinning, curing and high-temperature pyrolysis to obtain high-strength, high-modulus silicon carbide fiber. It is also widely used to prepare SiC ceramic matrix composites, high-temperature resistant ceramic coatings, porous ceramics and ceramic binders.
Finished SiC materials derived from PCS feature outstanding high-temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance and low density, which makes them widely adopted in aerospace, defense, nuclear energy, advanced transportation and high-performance new material sectors.
