Potassium carbonate CAS#584-08-7
Potassium carbonate (K₂CO₃), also referred to as potash or pearl ash, is a white or colorless crystalline solid with a salty taste and notable hygroscopic properties. It dissolves readily in water to yield a strongly‑alkaline solution, while being insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol.

Product Application of Potassium carbonate CAS#584-08-7
Potassium carbonate is utilized in the manufacturing of optical glass to enhance its transparency, mechanical strength and refractive index. It is also incorporated into welding rod formulations to avoid arc interruption during welding operations.
Other applications include its use in VAT dyes and as a stripping agent for ice dyeing. Moreover, it acts as an absorbent to remove carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide. When blended with soda ash, it can be formulated into dry powder fire extinguishing agents.
