2,4-Bis(phenylsulfonyl)phenolCAS#177325-75-6
2,4‑Bis(phenylsulfonyl)phenol, commonly abbreviated as DBSP, is a high-performance sulfone-based phenolic developer for thermal recording materials. It appears as white to off-white crystalline powder. It is nearly insoluble in water and shows good solubility in organic solvents such as acetone, ethyl acetate, toluene and xylene. It features stable chemical properties, excellent thermal responsiveness and good compatibility with leuco dyes in thermal coating systems.
As a premium thermal paper developer, DBSP reacts rapidly with colorless leuco dyes upon heating to form clear, dense black images. It delivers outstanding image stability, low background fogging and good resistance to oil and moisture. It is widely used for thermal receipt paper, thermal labels, medical recording paper and multi-layer thermal paper. It can serve as an alternative to traditional D-8 developer for stable formulation performance. Besides thermal recording materials, it also works as an organic intermediate for fine chemical synthesis.
