VANPLAST 202 (CAS No. 61790-48-5), also known as barium petroleum sulfonate, is a reddish-brown to brown semi-solid or viscous liquid. It is a popular oil-soluble rust inhibitor, mostly formulated into anti-rust oils and greases. It protects metals from rust by creating a protective surface layer. It shows good solubility in mineral oils and organic solvents, with poor solubility in water.
